Sister-in-law Cherie Jones said: "What was a journey home to his family turned into the worst day of their lives leaving behind his beautiful four-year-old daughter and loving partner. He was taken too soon. His partner is grief-stricken and his daughter is struggling to understand what has happened."

Paying tribute she added: "Dave wasn't just a great guy – he was the life of the party, the one who could turn a frown upside down with his contagious laughter and caring nature. His daughter was his world and the love he had for her was in every hug and every silly joke they shared.

"Dave deserves the best send-off and his family are burdened not just with their loss but life after. Everyone was been so kind and we have been overwhelmed by the amount of support there has been.

"I just want to say to them thank you for being a part of Dave's story, for embracing his laughter, his kindness, and his love. Together we'll keep his memory alive in our hearts, forever grateful for the time we had with him." The fundraising page can be found here.
