Dad Shaves Head in Support of Daughter Fighting Cancer
A father in Chattanooga, Tennessee, shaved his head on May 27 to show solidarity with his daughter, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation after being diagnosed with stage 4 nasopharyngeal carcinoma in February.
DAndray Thomas, who is featured in the video, told Storyful he decided to cut off his dreadlocks – which he’d been growing for nine years, according to local media – after his daughter Brielle, or “BriBri,” came to his business to show him that she had shaved her head.
“Immediately after she left I went to the barber shop,” he said, adding that his barber cut and shaved his head for free. “I then drove to surprise my daughter with the tribute I made to her by joining her and shaving my head for her cause, letting her know how much I love her and that I’m here every step of the way.”
Thomas launched the BriBri Strong campaign, selling T-shirts and bracelets in support of Brielle.
“I will be with her throughout every event and experience in her life,” he said. Credit: DAndray Thomas via Storyful
