Dakota Johnson Recalls “Weird Dynamics” on ‘The Office’ Series Finale

Dakota Johnson recently took a stroll down memory lane, all the way back to her appearance on the series finale of The Office in May 2013.

While on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday night, the Madame Web actress explained how she was thrilled to guest-star on the popular NBC show because she was a huge fan, but it didn’t necessarily go as planned.

“That was honestly the worst time of my life,” Johnson joked about the experience. “They were like, ‘Do you want to be in the series finale?’ And I was like, ‘Of course,’ thinking that I’d show up for like half a day. And I was there for two weeks, and I’m barely in the fucking show.”

The actress proceeded to explain that it was somewhat awkward for her on set because while she was excited to be there, the mood was sort of somber since the show was coming to an end.

“There were weird dynamics that had been going on for the last 10 years. Some people didn’t speak to each other,” Johnson recalled. “And I’m coming in like, ‘So excited to be here!’ And no one wanted to talk to me. No one gave a fuck…. I was like in the background of all of these scenes, faxing things.”

Host Seth Meyers quipped in response, “I recently watched it, and it was some of the most believable faxing I’ve ever seen.”

Meyers noted to Johnson that he was also in the show’s final episode, which came as a surprise to her. He appeared on TV for a fictional version of “Weekend Update” from NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

Johnson’s guest role on The Office, which ran from 2005 to 2013, came a few years before her breakout role in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. The show’s series finale also featured several notable guest stars, including returning castmembers Steve Carell, B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling, as well as Rachael Harris, Joan Cusack and Ed Begley Jr.
