Hulu is ushering in a new era of Dance Moms.

The streaming service’s unscripted series Dance Moms: A New Era will premiere on Wednesday, Aug. 7. Season 1 will consist of 10 episodes, and in an extended trailer released on Thursday, we get our first good look at the woman who’ll succeed Abby Lee Miller as the face of the franchise.

The reboot introduces “beloved dance coach Glo Hampton, who wants to take her students and prestigious dance school Studio Bleu to the next level, competing nationally every week. But the road to glory won’t be an easy one,” according to the official logline. “Coach Glo must juggle her tiny-but-mighty dancers, their scheming moms, and ensuing meltdowns, all while ruling with a tender but tough iron fist. Will Glo and her dance team persevere amidst the dramatics?”

The original Dance Moms debuted on Lifetime in 2011, and followed coach Miller and her abrasive teaching style as she trained young girls to dance at her Pittsburgh studio. The show became a hit, running for eight seasons and more than 200 episodes.

In 2020, Lifetime cut ties with Miller after past racist comments made by her came to light; a planned dance competition series featuring Miller was scrapped as a result.

Four years later, the cable network aired Dance Moms: The Reunion, a two-hour special in which fan-favorite cast members JoJo Siwa, Chloe Lukasiak, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, Kendall Vertes and Kalani Hilliker looked back on their time on the reality show and how it impacted their professional careers. Their moms, Jessalynn Siwa, Christi Lukasiak, Kelly Hyland, Jill Vertes and Kira Hilliker, also made appearances.
