Leeds United's hopes of automatic promotion were dealt a huge blow at Queens Park Rangers as the hosts ran out surprising 4-0 winners on a very bad night for the Whites. Leeds, so often difficult to break down this season, were all too easily undone in the capital as they handed Leicester City promotion and gave Ipswich Town a massive boost in their hopes for successive promotions.

Leeds now have to hope Ipswich don't win more than one of their last three games if they are to have a chance of finishing in the top two, with a path through the play-offs looking like an increasingly likely route if the club are to return to the Premier League. Defeat at QPR ensured Leicester's promotion, with the Foxes now focussed on claiming the Championship title ahead of their only challengers in Ipswich.

After witnessing his side's capitulation at QPR, Farke was quick to first congratulate Leicester before explaining why his side got it so wrong. "Congratulations to QPR for a well-deserved win and Leicester for promotion. Important to speak about this," said Farke.

"In this game the first 20 minutes was decisive, We didn't do the basics. QPR used it in an effective way to be 2-0 up. Then we woke up, but a side fighting for relegation in their home stadium will always be difficult to play. Two set-pieces in the second half and the game was done. We were far away from our best and definitely not good enough to win the points. We woke up after that and brought the game into their half, but once they are 2-0 at home it's hard.

"They scored from two set-pieces and the game was done. You cannot win at 4-0, just make sure it's not even more embarrassing. We were far away from our best, not good enough to win the points. It was the decisive first 20 minutes and our behaviour on two set-pieces in the second half."
