Daniel O'Donnell serenades at son's stylish Italian wedding: A family affair in Florence

Daniel and Majella O'Donnell looked fabulous at their son Michael's wedding in Italy this week and Daniel even sang for their first dance.

Majella's son Michael married his long-time love, Sarah, in a three day wedding celebration in the picturesque Italian region of Florence.

Michael and Australian-born Sarah met 11 years ago in London, and now live in Melbourne. Sarah also has strong family ties to Greece, so family and friends flew in to Italy from all over the world to celebrate the happy couple.

Dressed in coordinating shades of blue, Daniel, Majella, Michael and Sarah posed for a gorgeous family photo with Majella's daughter Siobhan, her husband Gavin, and their three children Olivia, Archie and Luke.

Sharing some pictures from the wedding, Daniel welcomed Sarah to the family, saying: "We had a lovely day yesterday at Michael and Sarah's wedding."

"We're delighted to welcome Sarah to the family".

Daniel also sang the song for Michael and Sarah's first dance, Eric Clapton's classic, Wonderful Tonight.

While Daniel and Majella didn't have children of their own, the couple have been together since Majella's children from her first marriage were young and he is a devoted stepfather to Siobhan and Michael. Not to mention a besotted grandfather to Siobhan's children Olivia, Archie and Luke.

Speaking of his grandchildren, Daniel told RSVP last year: "They're great. We chat everyday and they're always very busy with everything they do. They bring a lot of joy to us."

"They're full of their own business and you have to dance to their tune. Olivia is eight, Archie is nearly six and Luca is only two."

"Luca is starting to talk now and it's lovely to see him waving and saying 'Hello Gaga' when we're on the phone. Olivia is fairly quiet, Archie is a strong character."

"Olivia has started to play the violin and I said 'You're playing the fiddle now?' and she said 'No Gaga, it's a violin.' It's lovely to see her getting into music. Siobhán and Gavin are so good with them."

In 2022, Daniel and Majella celebrated 20 years of marriage and they renewed their vows at home in Donegal.

He told RSVP Country: "We had a lovely time. It was quite a ceremony with Fr Martin, a couple of friends, Siobhán and her husband Gavin, Michael and Sarah and the grandchildren."

"It was just us, a lovely small gathering around the table for dinner. We read out some nice pieces, Majella didn't know about it until the day. We did it on our 10th anniversary as well."
