Dannii Minogue was visibly moved as she disclosed her queer identity during the launch of the groundbreaking new gay dating show, I Kissed a Girl. The television personality, who previously hosted the acclaimed BBC3 series I Kissed a Boy, expressed how "surreal" it was that there hadn't been a UK dating series for lesbian and bisexual women until now.

"This is so important," she said. "There hasn't been a show for the girls in the reality gay dating world. It's like we need this to happen. I'm hoping that there are parties up and down the country."

The first episode of the series will reveal 10 single women being paired off by the show's researchers, starting their journey with a kiss beside the pool before exchanging words. They will explore their connections to see if sparks fly or if they should continue searching for love among the other participants. To add excitement, five additional women will join them at the stunning Italian Masseria.

At the series launch, 52-year-old Dannii received praise for her adept use of terminology specific to different identities within the lesbian community, such as "femme", "stem", and "masc". She proclaimed: "I identify as queer in a weird way.", reports the Mirror.

In the opening episode, Amy from Surrey, a member of the group, reveals her attraction towards Dannii by saying she's "just my type", with most of the other girls also expressing admiration. When questioned about reciprocal attractions, Dannii, who has been in a decade-long relationship with musician Adrian Newman, responded lightheartedly: "You girls are hot. You know it. I love it. I'm here for it. Is that an answer? ".

The Australian star conveyed her hopes for the show to garner more awards, stating: "I want this to go well, obviously. Everybody's put everything on the line. I hope there are more series of this show, and more girls get the opportunity to have this experience."

Visibly moved, she further acknowledged the courage of the contestants, praising: "You girls are so brave and amazing and have brought so much to it. I could never do what you have done. I will always be in awe of what has happened and what we've created. I feel so proud. You're stepping forward, and you're the first crew of girls representing in this space, and it is big."

A variety of women aged between 22 and 28, from all around the UK, makeup the contestants, including a footballer, a fire-eater, a chef who doubles as a drummer, and a publishing executive entering her first same-sex relationship.

Former X Factor panelist Dannii Minogue has expressed her hopes for attracting a wide-ranging audience, encompassing straight folks, to watch the 10-episode run of her new dating show. She stirred curiosity when she stated, "There's a curiosity, right? Whether you are a lesbian or not. Who's going to be in the casting? Who's going to be paired with who? What are they like? Will they represent me? Do I see myself? A million questions and guess what? The straights have the same million questions."

She added, "The best thing that can happen to this show is that everyone watches it, and everyone has questions. Everyone learns something. Everyone moves forward."

While looking irresistible as the dating programme's host, Dannii confessed that she didn't play Cupid as much as expected, stating, "I don't get to do a lot. I think I just drop bombs - and then swan off and try not to trip over my dress."
