Danville Borough Council reorganizes to include two newcomers

Jan. 2—DANVILLE — During a reorganization meeting Tuesday evening, Danville Borough Council nominated a president and vice president and welcomed two new councilmen to the position.

Councilman Mark Deroba was nominated and approved as council president. former council president Byard Woodruff was approved as vice president of the council and Councilman Stephen Humphries will serve as president pro-tem.

Tyler Patterson officially joined the borough council Tuesday as a representative of the First Ward. He was the only candidate to appear on the November ballot.

Michael Wert also attended his first meeting as an official councilman Tuesday representing the Fourth Ward. He was the only candidate on the ballot.

Councilmen James Gregg and Howard Beers Jr. were reelected in November to represent the Second and Third Wards, respectively.

The council also made various board appointments.

Betty Ann Moyer was reappointed to the police commission. Don Lutz and Steven Finns were reappointed to the planning commission.

Former Councilman Wesley Walters was appointed to the Danville Municipal Authority.

Eight total appointees were approved for hazard mitigation including Beers, Ray Shutt, Gregg, Barry Koser, Ellie Erlston-Phillips, Troy Patterson, Wesley Walters and Gary Brent.

Sis Hause and Bob Booth were reappointed to the Historical & Architecture Review Board (HARB).

Andrew Grove was approved as an alternate for the zoning hearing board and Jim Hack was approved as an alternate for the police commission.

In other news, the council approved the date for this year's Halloween parade, which will take place on Thursday, Oct. 24, and form at 5 p.m. at Wall Street and proceed to the soccer complex.
