WELLINGTON Fire Station was called to assist a roof-climbing dog on Thursday.

The daring pooch, from Buckwell, is believed to have jumped onto the porch roof from an open upstairs window.

Wellington Town Council alerted the fire station while putting out a call on social media for the dog's owners to come home.

The Town Council wrote: "Does anyone know the owner of this dog at [address] Buckwell. Dog jumped out of window.

"Please could the owner come home and rescue their dog."

Wellington Fire Station answered the call, posting to its Facebook page: "One pump from Wellington attended to assist our four-legged friend."

The Town Council then updated their post, writing: "The Fire Brigade have arrived to help this guy down."

One Facebook user commented: "You all done a brilliant job. Keeping the dog calm."

Another user added: "He climbed out the window. Back safely indoors now."
