Dog lovers looking for a new best friend will be happy to learn there are dozens of dogs up for adoption in Darlington.

Dogs Trust Darlington have plenty of rescue dogs looking for a forever home this month.

We have compiled a list of six pups hoping to bring some light into their new owner's lives.

Ralfie is a 1 to 2-year-old Weimaraner Cross who needs a child-free and pet-free environment to flourish.

As a bigger lad with an equally sizeable personality, Ralfie can be a handful on meeting new people or dogs.

"Ralfie is ready to find an adult-only home where his family will be with him throughout the day to help him settle into homelife."

He needs active owners who can channel his energy into positive activities such as training, exercise, and enrichment games.

A home with a garden would be ideal for this playful chap.

Bella

Bella, a 1 to 2-year-old French Bulldog Cross, is described as a fun-loving lady who could make a great addition to a family with primary or secondary school-age children.

She is housetrained, gets along well with other dogs, and according to her foster carers, behaves impeccably in the company of humans.

Bella enjoys walks and loves to explore the outdoor world with her nose leading the way.

Buddy

Finding a new home for Buddy may require a patient and adult-only household.

This 8-year-old Shih Tzu can live with another dog given the right introduction but prefers that his mealtimes and rest periods go uninterrupted.

"Buddy is still quite the lively character who’d love a home with a garden.

"He enjoys playing with his toys and we often find him parading them around."

George

Twelve-year-old Cocker Spaniel, George, makes a charming case for the joys of adopting an older dog.

George is a laid-back lad who likes to chill on the sofa but still enjoys his playtime.

Despite his age, George remains in good health, though potential owners should be prepared for the possibility of future medical care.

Bobby

Bobby, a half-year-old German Shepherd Dog Cross, needs a family that can devote time and patience to help him acclimatise to a new home environment.

With oversight and training, Bobby could potentially share his home with a calm canine companion and secondary school-aged children.

Red

Last but by no means least is the three-year-old Lurcher Cross, Red.

A happy and active dog, Red likes his family around him and needs slow introductions to being left alone.

He'll be the perfect fit if you're looking for an active, food-loving friend who likes to explore different smells and sights but be prepared for his high prey drive.

These adorable canines are ready to start their new life with the right pet parent, displaying equal amounts of energy, enthusiasm and love.

Could you help them find their forever home?
