EXCLUSIVE: Dave Devries has joined Mark Amin and Cami Winikoff’s Sobini as Vice President, Deadline can reveal. In his new role, he will oversee development across film and TV for the company’s producing and financing endeavors.
Devries joins from Rob Hardy’s Rainforest Entertainment, where he served as Head of Development for a little over two years, overseeing the company’s slate of film projects and series through their first-look deal with Lionsgate Television. Past roles have had him overseeing development across drama and comedy, TV and film, live-action and animation, as with series for HBO Max, Peacock, ABC, NBC, Fox, Freeform, USA, Syfy, YouTube Red and others. Select feature experience includes Shudder’s horror anthology V/H/S/94, and as a co-producer, Plus One, the 2019 romantic comedy starring Jack Quaid and Maya Erskine, which won the Audience Award at the 2019 Tribeca Festival.

“Dave is the perfect person to join our team,” said Amin in a statement on the hiring. “He has great taste, but it’s his thoughtful approach to story and development that has already made him such an invaluable asset to our team. As we continue to expand our feature slate and build our TV business, Dave’s track record working across diverse formats and genres, combined with his extensive network, uniquely qualify him to help guide Sobini’s continued success.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the incredible team at Sobini. Mark and Cami are prolific producers who have been putting out beloved and successful films for decades,” added Devries. “Mark, Cami and the Sobini team have that rare combination of entertainment business acumen and impeccable creative instincts, a winning combination that has allowed Sobini to thrive for so many years. I am thrilled to be joining Sobini and I look forward to having a hand in the company’s continued growth, both in film and television.”
An independent film and TV production company founded in 2001, Sobini earlier this year premiered the drama You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder, starring Ewan McGregor and his daughter Clara McGregor, at SXSW. Sobini’s Amin recently directed and produced the Civil War drama Emperor, starring Dayo Okeniyi, Kat Graham, Bruce Dern, James Cromwell and Mykelti Williamson. Also coming up from Sobini is the horror pic Cinderella’s Revenge, starring Lauren Staerck and Natasha Henstridge.
