Daveed Diggs and Emmy Raver-Lampman welcome their first child together: 'You have forever changed us'
The Broadway alums first met in 2015, as castmates in "Hamilton."
A new Broadway baby has arrived to blow us all away.
Emmy Raver-Lampman and Daveed Diggs are officially parents. The Hamilton alums shared the happy news with heartfelt words and good humor, posting an Instagram photo of their newborn's little legs in a green onesie.
“Dear baby, you have forever changed us,” read Raver-Lampman’s caption. “Our hearts are filled with a kind of love we never thought possible. We love you more than you will truly ever know. Thank you for choosing us. Now please… go the f--- to sleep. love, mom and dad.”
As Diggs explains with his own caption, their blunt plea is a reference to the famously snarky picture book, Go the F--- to Sleep. “Shout out to [Adam Mansbach] for writing the realest children's book of all time,” Diggs wrote.
Since 2011, the unorthodox bedtime book has long allowed moms and dads everywhere to express their nighttime exasperation — celebrity parents included. Jennifer Garner, Samuel L. Jackson, and even Reading Rainbow star LeVar Burton have each recorded audio versions of the book which includes lines like “I know you’re not thirsty, that’s bulls---, you’re lying” and “Stop f---ing with me, please, and sleep."
Diggs and Raver-Lampman first met in 2015, after they were both cast in the eventual Broadway sensation, Hamilton. Diggs portrayed both Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette in the musical, while Raver-Lampman was a member of the original ensemble. She later took on the roles of Eliza Schuyler and Angelica Schuyler in touring productions of the show.
The couple have largely kept their relationship private, but in 2021, they showed off their Southern California home in Architectural Digest.
"This may be our first house together, but I already see us and our families and our community and our passions everywhere I look," Raver-Lampman told the publication.
Diggs added, "Having a home like this definitely makes it harder to be away. Now I really understand what it means to miss home; because there is really no other place I want to be."
They announced their pregnancy in December 2023, with a series of sweet photos.
Since Hamilton, the duo have both ventured further into film and TV with Diggs enjoying notable roles in The Little Mermaid, Blindspotting, Invincible, Snowpiercer, and more. Raver-Lampman recently starred in The Beekeeper, and is set to wrap up her run as Allison Hargreeves in the fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy.
