David Walliams Apologises After Discovering Fan Letters Have Been Stolen

David Walliams has taken to Twitter to apologise anyone who may be waiting for a reply to a letter they sent him, after discovering that a thief had stolen his post.

The comedic actor and Britain’s Got Talent job is admired by many young fans for his children’s fiction.

But it seems some thief has now stolen a load of David’s post, meaning many children’s lovely letters are now missing.

Addressing the situation on Twitter, David wrote: “The @metpoliceuk just told me my post was stolen, including a large box of letters from children that had been sent via @HarperCollins.

“So I apologise if you sent a letter & have not received a reply as I do endeavour to reply to everyone. If in doubt please write again.”

David has written six books for Harper Collins, with a new children’s novel thought to be due out later this year.

The BBC reports that a Metropolitan Police spokesman said a ‘member of the public had found items of discarded mail in Camden on 8 April’.

Inquiries are continuing as they determine whether an offence has been committed.
