David Walliams says it's 'fantastic' to have more time with son during lockdown

David Walliams has opened up on enjoying the time he's been able to spend with his son Alfred because of the coronavirus lockdown.

The Britain's Got Talent judge has opted to keep his son's life private and does not publicly share photos of the seven-year-old, but spoke about the time they've been sharing together whilst he appeared on This Morning to discuss his latest book.

He shared that he enjoyed having more time to write, and that it had been "fun" homeschooling his son.

Speaking about the experience, the 48-year-old shared: "I only have one child, and he's seven years old so I probably have it easier than lots of parents who maybe have four children and looking at GCSEs on A-Levels but I've really enjoyed it.

"I've enjoyed having more time with my son because we've been reading Roald Dahl books together which has been a real pleasure to actually sit down. Normally you might sit down for fifteen minutes and do it, but because time has kind of opened up in this strange way, we might sit for an hour or a couple of hours and do it, and it's been really, really fantastic."

Walliams added that he would "probably miss" his son, whose mother is model Lara Stone, when he has to return to school.

The Little Britain star married Stone in 2010 and the couple welcomed Alfred in 2013 before they subsequently split in 2015.

While he may choose to keep his son away from the limelight, the same cannot be said for his colleague Simon Cowell.

The music mogul’s son Eric made a guest appearance in an early episode of the current series of BGT, as he joined his father briefly on the judging panel.
