Day-Old Ducklings Rescued After Being Swept Into Pool Drain

Some day-old ducklings were rescued from a monument pool in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Wednesday, May 22, after they had gone into the water and were swept into drains, local firefighters said.

Footage released by the Indianapolis Fire Department shows the rescue of the six ducklings, which the department said were born on Tuesday.

Five of the birds were rescued using a strainer basket, the department said, with the last seen in the footage being carried out by hand.

The mother and her ducklings were reunited just under two hours after the rescue began, the department said.

Seeing the potential danger for a repeat for the little family, a local construction company also volunteered to build ramps to allow the ducks to safely enter and exit the pool. Credit: Indianapolis Fire Department via Storyful
