Deadly fire tears through West London tower block

Several people are dead after a fire ripped through a high-rise tower block in West London.

The Grenfell Tower in West Kensington went up in flames in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Eyewitnesses said people were trapped in the 24-storey block.

London Ambulance said that 50 people are being treated in hospital.

London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton called the fire an ‘unprecedented incident’.

She said: ‘In my 29 years of being a firefighter, I have never ever seen anything of this scale.’

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
