Death Toll Rises as Mexican Emergency Crews Work Through the Night After Church Collapse

The death toll in a church collapse in northeast Mexico climbed from seven to at least 10 people as rescuers continued to comb through the rubble into the early hours of Monday, October 2, the local newspaper El Sol de Tampico reported.

According to church officials, the collapse happened as baptisms were taking place on Sunday afternoon at the Santa Cruz church in Ciudad Madero. Three children were among the dead, El Sol de Tampico said.
