Declan Donnelly issues hilarious response to 'dishevelled' paparazzi pictures

Declan Donnelly has responded to claims that he looked “dishevelled” during a recent shopping trip, with the TV favourite being papped as he pushed his trolley through a supermarket car park in a baseball cap.

Articles had already sprung up about the star’s “worrying” appearance, with media outlets claiming that his downtrodden look had sparked “concern” among fans.

However, Dec has put his followers at ease, taking to Twitter to poke fun at the photos as he responded to the criticism in the best possible way.

Taking to his and his co-star, Ant McPartlin’s, joint social media account, Dec wrote: “Charming. You give the old razor a rest for a few days and you’re labelled ‘dishevelled’.

“I’ll be sure to dig out my tux next time I pop to Sainers.”

The star was quickly inundated with support from fans, with one joking: “I didn’t know you were old enough to grow such stubble. Applause!!”

The photos comes after ITV bosses reportedly postponed a second I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! promo shoot featuring hosts Ant and Dec in order to give Ant more time to recover following his rehab stint for drug addiction earlier this year.

However, bosses have confirmed that the reality show is still expected to screen in mid-November as usual.

A source told The Mirror: “They were left out of the latest filming to give Ant as much time as possible to recover.

“Ant obviously had a lot to deal with and needed some space. It was important not to overburden him.”

Ant previously told how a two-year addiction to extra strong painkillers almost killed him, with the Geordie star continuing with his recovery in America after being discharged from a UK rehab centre.

The insider continued: “Ant and Dec are obviously incredibly close so being apart has been difficult. They’re looking forward to getting back together and getting on with what they do best.

“ITV are adamant the show go ahead as planned and there’s a real sense of optimism about it.”
