Delta Goodrem has responded to the news that Neighbours will be coming back following her cameo in the finale last year.

The singer famously played Nina Tucker in the Australian soap before going on to huge success in the music industry, though appeared in last summer's finale as part of the video messages to Toadie and Melanie for their wedding.

But would the star come back again now that Amazon Freevee has picked up the show for more episodes? Well, Goodrem says "never say never".

"I was talking to [fellow former Neighbours star] Holly Valance and I was like 'Oh, it's coming back?'" she told the Daily Star.

"That's fantastic because obviously to have Australian TV to continue its icon in itself, Neighbours. We did do the big send-off, I think my character Nina said goodbye, we all said goodbye, but all power to it to continue.

"I think everyone went through after lockdown, COVID, resets and finding new homes and finding where everything fits, and I'm really happy that they've found a new home."

Goodrem added: "You know what 'never say never', I felt a beautiful ribbon on it, but hey – who knows? I'm so excited for the cast and the crew. That's where I started and I love that Neighbours will live on forever and ever."

While the star doesn't seem to be involved at the moment, we do know that the likes of Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne, Stefan Dennis and Ryan Moloney will all be back.

Speaking recently about the revival, Fletcher – who plays Dr Karl Kennedy – teased that the soap will be "even better" than before.

"I was reflecting on this with Jackie [Woodburne] the other day. I've been doing this show for 28 years, the show's been going for 37 years," he told UTV Life. "It changed over that time, the production values increased. But now we get to do a re-do.

"It'll still be the same show... but we will be able to make it even better. I think this next season is gonna be incredibly exciting."

Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.
