Demi Lovato reveals new arm tattoo dedicated to her mom

Demi Lovato is always ready for more tattoos.

It’s no secret that the “Heart Attack” singer (who goes by she/they pronouns) has racked up a number of tats over the years. And this week, she decided to add one more to her collection.

On May 28, the former X-Factor judge, 31, posted a TikTok clip of her getting new ink dedicated to her mom, Dianna De La Garza.

Lovato explains in the video that she decided to get the phrase “I love you more" written in her mom’s handwriting tattooed on her arm.

She initially thought about placing the dainty script below her inner bicep, but after some thought wound up moving it under the portrait of her great-grandmother on her forearm.

“She and I also used to get into little arguments about who loved each other the most, so it holds a lot of value to me,” she shared.

Lovato worked with tattoo artist Avia Logothetis on the new addition. “We had such a great time today. Not only was she super sweet, but she’s super talented.”

“I am so happy with the way this tattoo came out. It looks beautiful and exactly like my mom’s handwriting. It holds so much meaning to me. Here’s to you mom, I love you more,” Lovato said at the end of the video.

A lot of the art Lovato has inked on her body has sentimental value.

In 2021, she got the lyrics of her favorite Beautiful Chorus song, "Infinite Universe,” on her hand.

Surrounding the words, “Love will live forever on the infinite universe,” are small shooting stars, crescent moon and the planet Saturn. Lovato previously said that the lyrics resonated with her 28-year-old self, which is why they have a special place in her heart.

If you’re wondering if Lovato has any hidden tattoos, the answer is yes.

In 2022, she worked with celebrity artist Dr. Woo, who also did the aforementioned design, on a spider illustration on the side of her head. The final image turned out to be a figure in Indigenous American mythology known as Grandmother Spider.

At the time, Lovato had a buzz cut with shaved sides, which gave full view of the tattoo. But now that her hair’s grown out, we suspect it’s likely hidden from plain sight.

More of Lovato’s ink, including those on her collarbones, arms and hands, were on display at the 2024 Met Gala as the singer attended the event for the first time eight years wearing a silver strapless Prabal Gurung gown.
