Demi Moore has revealed that Channing Tatum has yet to contact her about the Ghost remake he’s working on — but that hasn’t kept her curiosity at bay.

Moore, Whoopi Goldberg and the late Patrick Swayze starred in the original Oscar-winning movie almost 35 years ago.

And recently, Moore, 61, told Entertainment Weekly that although she hasn’t heard from Tatum, 44, she is looking forward to seeing his take on the 1990 movie.

"He’s super talented," she said, while promoting her horror movie The Substance amid its breakout at the Cannes Film Festival. "I’d be curious to see what he decides to do."

A rep for Tatum did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Moore also told EW that there could be new stories unearthed and retold with Tatum's upcoming remake.

"Look, every story in some ways has already been told. The wonderful thing is the different way things can be reinterpreted," the actress said.

Moore continued, “I think there are some films that often are better left not touched and then sometimes there are wonderful surprises in that reinterpretation.”

The original Ghost was a box-office hit, raking in over $500 million worldwide and receiving critical acclaim. It received five Academy Award nominations, and won for Best Supporting Actress and Best Screenplay — Written Directly for the Screen.

In February 2023, Tatum revealed in a Vanity Fair interview that his production company, Free Association, obtained the rights to the movie.

“But we're going to do something different,” said the Magic Mike's Last Dance star of his company's planned Ghost remake.

In the original film directed by Jerry Zucker, Swayze's Sam Wheat is killed by Willie Lopez (Rick Aviles). Sam's ghost sets out to save his girlfriend Molly Jensen (Moore). The surprise summer hit also helped catapult the Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody."

"I think it needs to change a little bit," Tatum told VF of his thoughts about a remake.
