Denise Richards confirms she is joining 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'

Former Bond girl Denise Richards is returning to reality television as a cast member in Bravo’s ninth season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The actress and ex-wife of Charlie Sheen last appeared in reality television in 2009 for her short lived E! series Denise Richards: It’s Complicated.

Bravo executive and Real Housewives producer Andy Cohen announced the news on his Twitter, for which Richards warmly replied.

Richards told People magazine: “I am so excited to join the cast of [RHOBH] as I am a huge fan of the show.”

She also said she can’t wait to meet English 80’s pop singer Boy George, who as any Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fan will know, is a houseguest of Real Housewife Dorit Kemsley.

Richards will be joined by returning Real Housewives Lisa Vanderpump, Erika Girardi, Lisa Rinna, Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley and Teddi Mellencamp.

The ninth series, which is due to air later this year appears to have already begun filming as several of the Housewives Instagram accounts are featuring images of Richards.

Fellow actress turned reality star Lisa Rinna shared an image with Richards August 9 with the caption as simply a diamond emoji.

Richards was once a major Hollywood actress, having starred in movies such as 1998’s cult classic Wild Things, 1997’s Starship Troopers and as a Bond Girl in 1999’s The World is Not Enough.

However, her on-and-off relationship and marriage with Charlie Sheen arguably shadowed her acting career. The pair married in 2002 and had two daughters together, Sam and Lola Rose Sheen. (Richards adopted a third child in 2011, daughter Eloise Joni Richards).

Divorced by 2006, Richards sort a restraining order against Sheen and claimed he was stalking her.

Sheen greatly criticised Richards last attempt at reality television and labelled her 2008-2009 Denise Richards: It’s Complicated series as “greedy, vain and exploitative.”

According to The Daily Mail Richards will be the highest paid Real Housewife ever, and is rumoured to have signed a multiyear contract worth $4 million (£3.1 million).

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season nine is expected to launch by end of 2018. It will be available to watch in the UK on reality video streaming service Hayu and ITVBe.
