Celebrity couples are preparing to be put under pressure to find out who is rock solid and who is papering over cracks in new relationship series Unbreakable.

The BBC One series, which will be hosted by comedian Rob Beckett, tests out six celebrity couples by putting them through mental, physical and emotional challenges to prove who has the strongest bond.

They'll go up against Olympic BMX racer Shanaze Reade and her event organiser partner Teddy Edwardes; comedian Stephen Bailey and his employment lawyer boyfriend Rich Taylor; and Pimlico Plumber Charlie Mullins OBE and his singer-songwriter girlfriend RaRa.

Watching over them in the challenges will be two experts on love - relationship psychotherapist and president of Relate Anjula Mutanda, and agony aunt Maria McErlane.

Presenter Beckett said: "Who doesn’t like to see celebrities and their real life partners put to the test under pressure?

"It was an amazing experience to film, and I'll never be able to un-see Shirley Ballas get a tattoo, Denise Welch fall into a lake, or Simon Weston blindfold his wife in a maze."

The Unbreakable challenges are designed to test the five key pillars of a relationship: trust, honesty, understanding, patience and communication.

Viewers will see a more intimate side to the well-known contestants as they open up on what makes their relationships work, as well as the struggles they are facing.

With partnerships ranging from the Westons' 35-year marriage to Mullins and RaRa meeting just 18 months ago, will length of time together prove the strongest factor, or is the closest bond down to something else?

The six-part series is set to begin on BBC One in October.
