A dermatologist who is in her 60s has shared her genius make-up secrets for those who have skin that is aging and developing wrinkles.

Those who keep up to date with the beauty community are constantly inundated with social media posts and suggestions telling them what products to buy and what techniques to follow in order to look younger.

Some people can spend years perfecting their skincare and make-up routine so they look the most flawless they ever have, reports the Mirror. Dr Cynthia Bailey, 64, has come to the rescue of these beauty lovers and shared her best methods to looking younger with some easy make-up tricks.

The dermatologist - who looks younger than her age - said that tricks used on a 21-year-olds face may not work for those who are further on in life. Speaking on her blog, Dr Bailey said: "As you move into your 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond, you have the adventure of working to achieve a put together look with eyelid skin that sags and does not take makeup evenly, age spots that resist coverage and wrinkles that seem to gather powder into cracks and lines.

"Larger aspects of your facial structure have also changed. Our once heart shaped face is now squarer - what was up has now slid down."

The expert said that our make-up techniques should evolve with our age and face, and she has learnt many tips and tricks over the years from aestheticians - and credits YouTube as a great way to learn new skills.

Dr Bailey said that as we age, our make-up no longer stays in the place it used to. She explained: "Makeup migrates during the day into the crepeyness of our skin texture. It goes into the fine wrinkles that have etched their way into our skin -- like badges of honour marking our survival over the years.

"How do we keep from finding our makeup pooled in, and accentuating those little crevices by day's end? Picking the right makeup products needs to take this into account." She added: "Where do our eyebrows go? What happened to our rosy pink lips? For that matter, where did our cheeks go? Is applying a splash of blush good enough to bring them back or do we need a little more help?"

The dermatologist added a layer of Dr Bailey's Baked Mineral Powder across her face to prevent the other make-up from pooling into her wrinkles, and also used this product on her eye-lids to prepare it for eyeshadow. She added: "Just like painting, you prep your canvas."

Dr Bailey also shared how to perfect your eyebrows as she said that having thicker brows can create a more "youthful" look. The expert applied some brow powder to extenuate her eyebrows and then added some highlighter underneath to make them "pop".

Dr Bailey also said that using an eyelash curler on your natural lashes can be a good place to start as it can give you "lovely long lashes" before adding some mascara. The beauty fan uses a light colour underneath her eyes to line her bottom lash so her eyes stand out.

The dermatologist also noted that we lose eyelashes over the years as we age so using these tricks can disguise any thinning or lash gaps.

To finish off her look, she used a lip liner and lipstick. The expert said: "Lip liners bind more tenaciously to lips than lipsticks, which tend to come off. To recreate the lip color and make it stay while I drink tea, I put this on first and then I put lipstick on top of that.

"As women age, we lose our lips. We lose our philtrum bow."
