Dermot Mulroney is ready to revisit My Best Friend's Wedding.

At the premiere of his new movie Anyone But You in New York City Monday, Mulroney, 60, told Entertainment Tonight he's down to make a sequel to the classic 1997 romantic comedy he costarred in with Julia Roberts.

"Yeah, no, I'm in!," Mulroney said. "I'm thrilled to hear Julia's finally, you know, coming to her senses."

Mulroney's answer comes after Roberts, 56, has pinpointed My Best Friend's Wedding as a film of hers she would be happy to make a sequel for multiple times in recent days. On Watch What Happens Live last Thursday, she said she would like a sequel to visit "how Kimmy and Michael's marriage is going," and she speculated on the film's characters' futures during an appearance on CBS Mornings.

"I was amazed to hear her kind compliments this weekend," Mulroney told the outlet of Roberts. "You know I would love to work with her any day of the week, month or year."

My Best Friend's Wedding follows Roberts' character Jules, a food journalist who realizes she is in love with her longtime best friend Michael, played by Mulroney, after his engagement to Kimmy (Cameron Diaz). In an attempt to win over Michael, Jules spends the four days before Michael and Kimmy's wedding trying to break the pair up. She even fakes an engagement to her gay best friend, George (Rupert Everett) out of desperation.

Jules' attempts are unsuccessful: the film ends with Kimmy and Michael happily married, after Jules nearly ruins the wedding when she confesses her love to Michael, leaving her to dance with George at the wedding reception.

"Oh golly. I don't know — that's not my job," Mulroney told ET, when asked for ideas for where his character Michael may find himself in a sequel. "But if they put that story together, I'm there for sure."

Mulroney has said before that he is ready to make a sequel to the rom-com.

“I’ve been clear from the beginning, I’ve been clear from 1997 that I’m ready for a sequel. So, I’m on record," he said, during an appearance on The Talk in November 2018.

Last year, Roberts reflected on My Best Friend's Wedding's legacy in an interview with E! Daily Pop. "We really got lucky coming together," she shared at the time. "None of us knew each other before we made the movie, and we just had a really great chemistry. It just worked. I mean, we all really liked each other. Dermot and I are still really great friends — we talk all the time, And I think that that is a testament to the beautiful time that we all had making this film together."

Mulroney's latest movie Anyone But You opens in theaters Dec. 22, while Roberts' new movie Leave the World Behind is streaming on Netflix now.
