Destructive Dilmon powers Hanford to NSSCL Division Three points on road

Dilmon Jacob was in superb form with the bat as Hanford secured a comfortable win at Norton in Hales seconds in NSSCL Division Three.

Jacob was at the forefront of Hanford’s mammoth 278-5 with a top century in the first half of the contest.

He was eventually dismissed for 139, an innings which contained 16 fours and five sixes.

Adeel Khalid (47), Adeel Mahmood (40) and Kasim Ahmed (25) were also in fine form with the bat. Shaj Ali took two wickets.

Jamie Shaw’s 34 was backed up by Ronan Farnell’s 33 and 23 from Frederick Egerton in Norton in Hales’ run chase.

However, they fell well short, being bowled out for 140, thanks to Khalid’s 5-21 and a couple of scalps for Bassit Mahmood.

Leek seconds were in impressive form to win by seven wickets at their Barlaston counterparts.

Archie Bunn (3-15) and Kieran Carr (3-16) led Leek’s bowling effort as they skittled their hosts for just 95.

Matt Bowcock also chipped in with two wickets, while Tom Gray (24), William Fisher (20) and Josh Williams (15) made the most progress with the bat.

Carr then dominated Leek’s successful reply as he blazed a rapid half-century.

Carr hit 10 fours and one six in his 56-ball 66 not out to steer Leek past the post, despite Fraser Hall’s double strike.

Newcastle & Hartshill seconds overcame a rocky start to their innings to win by four wickets at home against Bignall End 2nd XI.

Castle were set 112 to win, but slumped to 22-5, despite Guy Bridgett making 16.

But Seb Smith (39) and James Hagan (37no) joined forces to turn the tables as the home side eventually pocketed the points.

Kieran Peake took 4-15 for Bignall End, having earlier hit 22 in his side’s 111-9 from their 40 overs.

Seb Hopwood top-scored with 39, with Manazeer Ashan Nawaz weighed in with 25.

Smith and Richard Parkes scooped 4-24 and 3-7 respectively for Newcastle & Hartshill.

Porthill Park thirds’ attack was in top form to set up their success at Hem Heath thirds.

Max Blurton claimed 4-14 - and the other wickets were equally shared by Ethan Plummer, Harry Stubbs and Jonathan Tatton - as Hem Heath were bowled out for 77.

Jack Sanders (18), Shailesh Khune (12) and Giles Bloore (11) made the biggest impacts with the bat.

Jack Jones helped himself to 3-27 after tea, but Porthill Park managed to net a six-wicket triumph.

That was thanks to Auyush Deshpande’s 25, 22 from Tilly Kesteven and Chris Matthews’ 17 not out.

Bagnall Norton seconds made home advantage count to see off the challenge of Onneley.

The hosts took first use and made their way to 164-9 at the halfway stage of the meeting.

Alfie Shenton top-scored with 36 and Luke Morris (26) and Matthew Reynolds (20no) lent valuable support.

Jake Short picked up 3-29 for the visitors, with doubles coming from Mohammed Sakandar, Dan Hall and Adam Edwards.

Tom Salt (24) and Short (15) made starts in reply, but Onneley were skittled for 92.

Cian Gibson (5-12) was the bowling hero for Bagnall Norton, with four wickets being shared by Rob Bennett and Spencer Ashby.

Leaders Betley banked another win as they won at home against Burslem 2nd XI - courtesy of a Willoughby Happe-inspired performance.

Happe picked up 3-36 - and there were two wickets for Luke Taylor - as Burslem reached 159-8 from their 40 overs.

Michael Rowley compiled 42 for Burslem, with Luca Abbotts (27), Rhys Sharps-Hughes (21) and Chris Lowndes (19) also chipping in.

Happe then made 56 in Betley’s run chase, which inlcuded nine fours.

Taylor was also in good form as he struck seven boundaries in his 50 to guide Betley over the line.

Wasim Ahmed pocketed 3-24 for Burslem, but he couldn’t prevent the hosts from securing the spoils.
