Details of 'enchanting' new winter light trail at Surrey castle announced and it is perfect for families

Details of a brand new Surrey winter light trail that promises an enchanting experience for families and visitors of all ages have been announced by organisers after success in Kent last year. 2024 will see Illuminate expand its light trail series to Guildford Castle where an unforgettable evening of magic has been teased.

The event is set to include cosy marshmallow toasting as well as a hot drink station serving hot chocolate, mulled wine and cider, teas, coffees, and soft drinks. The trail will bring a dazzling display of light installations to the town centre that people can walk through and that organisers have said will transform the winter landscape into a wonderland of colour and sparkle not to be missed.

“Light trail season needs to hurry up,” Illuminate posted after it announced: Step foot into Surrey’s brand new light trail located in the heart of Guildford’s town centre. Experience the magic of winter with our family-friendly winter light trail around the historic grounds of the castle. “

Organisers continued: “Explore Guildford Castle like you’ve never see it before this winter. Our stunning display of lights is a feast for the eyes and a delight for the senses. As you wander the trail, you’ll be surrounded by a dazzling array of colours and patterns.

“The lights are carefully placed to create a sense of wonder and magic, and the effect is truly breathtaking. You’ll feel transported to another world as you take in the sights and sounds of the winter light trail.”

The Guildford trail is expected to take around 30 minutes to complete at a leisurely pace. Illuminate ran a similar light trail at Tonbridge Castle in Kent in 2023 and has added Guildford and Ipswich events for 2024.
