Devon and Cornwall election debate - how to watch live and submit a question

Some of the South West's most high-profile General Election candidates will be locking horns in what promises to be one of the most-watched live debates in the region in the run-up to July 4th.

PlymouthLive, DevonLive and CornwallLive are joining forces to host the debate between Devon and Cornwall candidates from five different political parties, hoping to secure your vote. Ahead of the event, we are asking you what questions you'd like to see answered.

The election is just over two weeks away and there are still people who are undecided on how they will vote. This debate aims to help residents across Devon and Cornwall make up their minds by getting answers to the issues that matter most to them.

Our hustings, held in Plymouth, will be hosted by Agenda Editor William Telford on Thursday, June 27 in collaboration with Plymouth Marjon University's Journalism department. You will be able to watch live across multiple social media platforms from 7pm on the night.

The debate will include representatives for each of the five main political parties standing in the region. Karen La Borde, who is standing in Truro & Falmouth, will be representing the Green Party.

Gordon Scott, who is standing in Torbay, will be there for Reform UK and Caroline Voaden, who is standing in South Devon, for the Liberal Democrats.

The Conservative candidate will be Veterans Minister Johnny Mercer, who is hoping to be re-elected in Plymouth Moor View.

His Labour rival, Fred Thomas had been due to attend the debate but pulled out on Monday afternoon. Labour will now be represented by Luke Pollard, who is seeking re-election in neighbouring Plymouth Sutton & Devonport.

Labour said Mr Thomas, who has been under the spotlight in recent days after a row with Mr Mercer over his military service, could "no longer make this debate" shortly after being made aware that Mr Mercer would be taking part.

A spokesperson said: "We think it is more appropriate for a sitting MP to represent Labour for a regional husting of this scale and Luke is now available to take part."

The debate will be broadcast live on our DevonLive, PlymouthLive and CornwallLive Facebook pages and on our websites.
