Italian restaurant Di Maggio's have teamed up with Queen's Park FC and Glasgow-born football legend Alan Rough for a pizza competition inspired by the Europa League.

The 'design a pizza' competition was launched by former professional player Alan at Di Maggio’s Royal Exchange Square eatery. It aims to celebrate the Euros.

As part of the competition, primary pupils across the city are being challenged to whip up a match day pizza masterpiece using no more than four ingredients, representing a team from the Euro’s - and the winning pizza will be chosen by Rough.

The winning pupil will get the chance to make their pizza and have it appear on Di Maggio’s menu for a limited time. The prize also includes a family meal at Di Maggio’s Royal Exchange Square.

A jumbo-sized pizza will also be created so all their classmates can enjoy a slice of the action, as well as the teacher of the winning pupil receiving a voucher for Di Maggio’s.

Co-founder of DRG, Mario Gizzi said: "We have worked with Queen’s Park on the Design-A-Pizza competition for a number of years, and it’s always a highlight.

"Community and engaging youngsters in a fun and creative way is an important commitment for both Di Maggio’s and Queen’s Park.

"We’re always delighted to support this competition, and hope the students have enjoyed taking part."
