A defiant Diane Abbott has assured voters “I am going to be your MP” as Sir Keir Starmer faces intense pressure to let her stand in the General Election.“I will not let myself be intimidated,” said Labour veteran Ms Abbott at a rally in north London on Wednesday evening. “I am going to be your MP”.Her comments came after she said she had been barred from standing as a Labour candidate in the July 4 election.Labour leader Sir Keir has insisted no decision had yet been taken about whether Ms Abbott – who in 1987 became the first black woman elected to Parliament – would be allowed to defend her seat.
