Diego Maradona labels ex son-in-law Sergio Aguero 'a wimp'

It seems like only yesterday that a proud Diego Maradona embraced son-in-law Sergio Aguero on the pitch at Al Wasl's Zabeel Stadium.

It was in fact May 15, 2012 and a lot has changed in the ensuing five months. For one, Maradona is no longer Wasl boss and two, he is no longer Aguero's proud father-in-law.

The break-up of Aguero's four-year marriage to Maradona's daughter, Giannina, has soured relations between the pair with the latter labelling the Manchester striker "a wimp".

Aguero has a son, Benjamin, with Giannina, and Maradona has vowed that he will support his daughter in any legal fight on divorce proceedings or custody over his beloved grandson.

"He’s a wimp, who I don’t even want to name,” said Maradona of Aguero on Argentine radio.

"In my daughter’s next meeting with a lawyer, I want to be by her side. We’ll see who can talk. The next time I want to be there to see if he (Aguero) says anything."

Maradona has in the past spoken of his love of live in Dubai, calling it "paradise", and admitted in his recent interview that he moved to the UAE because he felt like "a sporting exile".

While his tenure in charge of Wasl did not work out as planned, Maradona, who turned 53 on Wednesday, is now revelling in his role as sports ambassador for Dubai Sports Council.
