Yahoo News Diesel Taps Måneskin’s Damiano David as Its First-ever Global Male Ambassador
TRIPLE D: Diesel is joining the ambassadorship craze.
The OTB Group-owned brand has named Måneskin’s lead vocalist Damiano David as its first-ever global male ambassador.

Known for his on-stage charisma, powerful vocals and distinctive, edgy personal style, David embodies “the Diesel man with his spirit of nonconformity, freedom and inclusivity” and represents “a new vision of masculinity and gender liberation,” said the company in a statement. The appointment also strengthens the brand’s connection with the music world, expressed both in creative director Glenn Martens’ collections often referencing the MTV-heyday pop aesthetic and in brand activations such as the traveling series of free rave parties staged around the world.
In addition to editorial content, the ambassadorship marks the beginning of a creative collaboration that will include a genderless capsule collection codesigned by Martens and David and expected to be launched later this year.
“Damiano has his style, very strong. And I think it’s quite a personal style, which is very well reflecting on how I like to see people today,” said Martens in a short video revealing the tie-up, while David added he is very proud of the collaboration and shares “the same mindset” with Martens. The clip shows the designer and talent on a terrace in New York, as well glimpses of David on a set wearing pieces from the brand while showing off his tattooed chest.
It’s likely the clip was recorded last month, when David had already a taste of Diesel fashion as he attended the annual Met Gala in a full custom look designed by Martens. For the occasion, the designer utilized the same devoré technique seen in the Diesel spring 2024 runway show on a classic black tuxedo in wool interwoven with a polyester yarn to reveal the singer’s skin underneath, again making his tattoos a focal point of the look’s disintegrating details.
The red carpet moment represented both the brand’s first time dressing guests for the event and David’s Met Gala red carpet debut joined by girlfriend, singer and actress Dove Cameron, who also donned a Diesel gown. Pop icon Kylie Minogue was among Diesel’s guests, too.
The young celebrity couple’s outing, as well as Minogue’s appearance, accrued plenty of clicks on social media and loudly restated Diesel’s democratic and inclusive message that even when it goes red carpet, it speaks to different generations.
David’s international fame spiked when Måneskin won the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest. Along with David, the rock band is composed of bassist Victoria De Angelis, guitarist Thomas Raggi and drummer Ethan Torchio, who have known each other since middle school and established the group in 2015.
At the time, ahead of its Eurovision performance, the band received the support of many Italian personalities on social media, including Diesel and OTB Group founder Renzo Rosso. Yet quickly after the win, the four young members were tapped to front Gucci’s Aria campaign and were long associated with the Florentine house when it was under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, attending many shows and wearing the brand for different awards.
