Disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein asks judge to let him see private dentist for bad teeth

Harvey Weinstein has reportedly asked a judge to let him see a private dentist rather than having his teeth taken out in jail.

The disgraced producer is currently serving 23 years in the US for sexual assault and will be on trial in LA in October on allegations he assaulted five women between 2004 and 2013.

According to The New York Post, Weinstein now wants his decaying teeth dealt with so that he looks "presentable" when he goes on trial.

The 70-year-old was quoted as saying he is in "pain every day" and is apparently after fake teeth or a bridge.

However, his lawyer Mark Werksman said dentists at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility had told the former Hollywood mogul that he can either have his rotten teeth extracted or leave them.

"This situation is an emergency," Weinstein was quoted as saying in court.

"I will pay for the dentist… it will be one trip and one trip only.”

Accusations against Weinstein started emerging in October 2017 and he was arrested the following year.

The producer - who denied non-consensual sex - was found guilty of assault charges in February 2020 and a month later was handed a 23-year prison sentence.

Last year it emerged that he was dealing with vision and dental problems.

One of his attorneys, Norman Effman, was quoted as saying: "He is almost technically blind at this point and in need of surgery… and shots.

"He’s also had some major dental issues and he has scheduled, as we speak, we don’t know again exactly when, for some dental procedures to save his teeth. He’s lost, I think, four at this point."
