Rugby fans are outraged after a Toulouse player's eye was allegedly gouged in the Champions Cup quarter-final against Exeter Chiefs.

The Anglo-French clash took place on Sunday, April 14, and Toulouse absolutely hammered the Gallagher Premiership club in a 64-26 win. The game was tight up until the second half, with just one point separating the sides at half- time. However, the Top 14 outfit turned on the style in the second period and their attacking prowess overpowered their English opposition.

In the wake of the result, French rugby fans have spotted some potential foul play, which appears to show Chiefs hooker Jack Yeandle's fingers making contact with the eye of his opponent.

One Toulouse supporter reposted the footage, with the caption: "The English are the first to share the bad French gestures, we will not deprive ourselves."

One fan wrote on X: "I hope a lengthy ban is incoming. Disgusting."

Another rugby fan also wasn't averse to extreme consequences: "Vile. Genuinely one of the worst things I've seen on a rugby pitch. That's utterly unforgivable and I'd not be against a life ban."

Another Toulouse follower wrote: "If that's how I'm seeing that, it's a lifetime ban and expulsion from ever competing in rugby. For Life."

Sports lawyer Tim O'Connor explained: "There is no good contact with the eye area, but this is a very, very bad one indeed."

Clearer footage can be viewed below.

It's likely now that this incident will be reviewed by a disciplinary panel, where Yeandle could receive a lengthy ban for his actions, if he is found guilty of the act. The incident is yet to be officially cited, though.

One viewer said: "If this is not cited then the game really has sunk to new lows!"
