Yahoo News Doctor Who drops new sneak peek at Jinkx Monsoon's mysterious villain
In celebration of Jinkx Monsoon’s 36th birthday on September 18, Doctor Who has revealed a new image of the drag queen’s mysterious and camp villain in the show.
Earlier in April, the creators of the popular sci-fi series announced non-binary drag performer Jinkx Monsoon, the only contestant in the Drag Race franchise to ever win the competition twice, as a new character in the upcoming season 14. The character they will portray was described as “the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet”, but no more details were revealed.
A first-look image was shared on the occasion of the announcement, showing the star wearing a costume with piano keys printed on it. Some fans were quick to observe that these details might indicate that the villain will have a musical aspect to it.
“Is there going to be a musical episode?” a fan asked. “Because that could be awesome.”
The new image shared on Monday shows the Drag Race winner in the same costume and was dubbed “villainous chic” in the caption.

“So hyped for Jinx Monsoon, reminds me of Ursula,” one fan commented in response. “Should be a great villain!”
Someone else wrote, “This new season is gonna make all the right people incredibly mad I love it.”

“Genuinely cannot express how excited I am to witness Jinkx as a Dr Who villainous,” wrote another X user.
Another added, “Jinkx looks so goddamn good, she was born to play a campy ass villain in Doctor Who honestly.”

Jinkx Monsoon will join a supremely queer cast in the upcoming season of Doctor Who, with Sex Education actor Ncuti Gatwa set to make history as the first openly gay and Black Doctor. Russell T Davies, well-known for bringing lots of LGBTQ+ representation to the screen, is also returning to the production, having previously worked as a showrunner on the series from 2005 to 2010.
Other queer stars joining the series include trans Heartstopper actor Yasmin Finney; Pete MacHale, who is set to be the first trans man to enter the Whoniverse; and trans actor Mary Malone. It’s a Sin actor Neil Patrick Harris will also make an appearance, giving LGBTQ+ fans of the show all they’ve ever wanted and more.
