Yahoo News Doctor Foster writer's new thriller will star John Simm
John Simm and Adrian Lester will experience Trauma in an intriguing new TV drama from Doctor Foster writer Mike Bartlett.
The trio are teaming up with ITV for a three-part thriller about the consequences of a life-saving surgery gone wrong and one man's obsession with his own grief.
Lester will star as the well-regarded trauma surgeon Jon Allerton, who happens to be attending to the emergency care of 15-year-old Alex after a vicious stabbing.
When Alex doesn't make it through surgery, his grieving father Dan (Simm) blames Jon Allerton and becomes obsessed with unraveling the surgeon's life in every conceivable way.
"I wrote Trauma knowing we needed, and hoping we'd get, hugely talented actors for the roles," writer Mike Bartlett said in a statement.
"But this cast has exceeded expectations. I'm a huge fan of all of them individually and can't wait to see them onscreen together."
The ensemble for Trauma also includes Rowena King (Of Kings and Prophets), Jade Anouka (Chewing Gum) and Lyndsey Marshal (The Hours and Rome).
Production begins on the series next month in London. No airdate has been announced by ITV at this stage.
Trauma is one of three exciting new projects that John Simm has lined up. He recently signed up to co-star with Billie Piper and Carey Mulligan in BBC Two's thriller Collateral.
Of course, he will also be returning to Doctor Who for a multi-Master story with Michelle Gomez as part of Peter Capaldi and showrunner Steven Moffat's final series.
