Marvel's latest blockbuster Captain Marvel may include a neat nod to the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

If you've seen the new Brie Larson adventure, you'll remember that Carol Danvers watches a shooting star glide across the night sky with Maria Rambeau's daughter, Monica.

Well, according to Reddit's 'chrisHANDmade', the timeline matches up to suggest that Monica and Carol are in fact watching Peter Quill (Star-Lord) journey to space in Yondu's spacecraft, which happens at the very beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Pretty convincing, right?

The Huffington Post UK recently posed this fan theory to the movie's visual effects supervisor Chris Townsend.

He said: "I've never heard that about Peter Quill, but I love it. I love the fan side of what we do. I love the reactions. I love how much thought [goes into everything].

"Obviously, there's a huge amount of thought that goes into it from everyone on our end making the films, but there's an amazing sort of reading into things, like the shooting star."

So there you have it, it's basically all left open to interpretation.

Captain Marvel is out now.
