Does This 17th Century French Coin Show A UFO?

A French ‘jeton’ from the 17th century seems to show a weird flying disc - and it’s been seized on by UFO fans as evidence of alien visitors.

‘Jetons’ were coin-like tokens used to help people do sums using an abacus-like tool - and which was also used in gambling games.

This one is French and was minted between 1650 and 1680, according to UFO Sightings Daily.

But what IS the strange design on it?

Commenters on hoax debunking site Snopes suggest it’s a shield - and others suggest it’s a representation of Ezekiel’s wheel in the Bible.

UFO fans, obviously, think it’s an actual flying saucer.

‘This is absolute proof that in the 1600s the French witnessed enough UFO sightings to decide to put some of what they saw on coins,’ according to Scott C Waring of UFO Sightings Daily.

‘It appears to commemorate a UFO sighting of a wheel like object.

‘I’ve been looking for one of these off and on for a few weeks. It looks really amazing. If you are lucky you can find one on Ebay for anywhere between $20 US to $500 depending on the sellers asking price and condition of the coin.’
