Dog who was thrown out stayed with owner's things

A dog named Boo was found sleeping outside a house on a mattress surrounded by his owner's things after they had moved out of their house, leaving their poor pet behind.

According to the neighbours of the home in Detroit, USA, Boo's owners had left their home a month earlier, leaving dressers, pillows and a mattress outside their house which Boo stayed by for weeks, waiting for them to return while concerned neighbours kept him well fed.

Boo was left behind by his owners

Luckily, the sad story has a happy ending! After seeing a snap of the dog on social media, founder of Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue, an organisation has fed over 10,000 homeless people as well as care for dogs since 2014, Dustin Oliver decided to rescue the dog.

Since Boo refused to leave his owner's things, Dustin spent several days convincing the dog to trust him, eventually coaxing him into leaving by speaking to him and feeding him sausage McMuffins and hash browns. He shared snaps of the journey on Facebook, revealing the moment Boo trusted him enough to follow him to his car.

He told Time: "I was there talking to him and trying to get him to trust humans again. I think certain people have a certain energy around them. Dogs, and all animals, pick up on those.

Dustin eventually gained Boo's trust

"Boo trusted me because he knew, he could sense that aura."

Boo eventually let his new friend put a collar on him and pick him up to take him to the vets. Although Boo was discovered to have heartworm - and so unfortunately cannot be adopted for another six months - the rescue centre is currently looking for a family to foster the puppy after his recovery.
