A dog that was tied up and dumped in Coventry has been rehomed. Sin was found earlier this month by the Coventry Dog Wardens.

A heartbreaking photo of the dog, believed to be called Sin, tied to a tree was widely shared on Facebook. It sparked outrage from hundreds of people who condemned the 'cruel' way the dog had been dumped in Willenhall Wood.

Today, Coventry City Council told CoventryLive that they were able to confirm that Sin was not an XL Bully. She has since been rehomed.

A spokesman for Save Our Seized Dogs said the person who owned Sin before she was dumped was 'devastated' after seeing the heartbreaking photo shared on Facebook. She was believed to have 'wanted her safe back with her.'

It is believed the woman contacted the Coventry Dog Wardens, who told her that Sin had been handed to West Midlands Police. Checks were said to have taken place as she was believed to be an 'unregistered banned breed.'

Now it has emerged that Sin was found not to be a banned breed, said Coventry City Council. She has since been returned to the woman who owned her before she was dumped.

A post shared by Save Our Seized Dogs on Tuesday (April 23) said: “We are delighted to announce that Sin has been released today (April 23). She has been returned to her previous owner.”

A spokesman for Coventry City Council said: “As we were able to confirm the dog in question is not an XL Bully we have been able to successfully rehome it.”
