Dolly Parton thinks Beyoncé has recorded a cover of Jolene

Dolly Parton has hinted that Beyoncé has recorded a cover of her hit song Jolene for her new album.

The country music icon has said she suspects the Crazy in Love hitmaker has covered her 1973 hit for her forthcoming country album, Renaissance Act II.

"I think she's recorded Jolene and I think it's probably gonna be on her country album, which I'm very excited about that," Dolly, 78, told Tennessee outlet Knox News in a new interview.

"I love her!" the Islands in the Stream singer gushed. "She's a beautiful girl and a great singer."

Jolene has been covered by a number of artists since its release, including by Miley Cyrus and Lil Nas X.

Dolly's comments come weeks after she showed her support for Beyoncé's recent crossover into country music.

"I'm a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she's done a country album," the hitmaker wrote in an Instagram post on 23 February. "So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single. Can't wait to hear the full album!"

The Single Ladies singer announced Act II, her ninth studio album, during the 2024 Super Bowl and released two country singles, Texas Hold 'Em and 16 Carriages, later the same day.

The forthcoming album, which is the second part of her three-act project, is due for release on 29 March.
