Dominic West "spent two days in bed" after reading The Crown reviews

The Crown star Dominic West has revealed he spent "two days in bed" after reading reviews for the Netflix show's final season.

West played now King and then Prince of Wales Charles in season five and season six — the latter of which dealt with, among other things, the death of Princess Diana.

Season six received particular criticism due to scenes involving Diana's 'ghost', who visited Charles to give him one final goodbye.

Appearing on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, West was asked if he was worried about the Royal Family's reaction to the show.

"I don't want to make their lives any more difficult than they already are, so I suppose it does concern you," West began (via Deadline).

"All reactions worry me. I read all the reviews and spent two days in bed. So yes, I'm a sensitive soul, I worry about what people think."

West previously opened up about why he couldn't say no to playing the future king despite the pressure he felt taking over the role from Josh O'Connor.

"There was an enormous pressure on The Crown because it was such a successful show before I went in, and Josh did such a great job," West said on The Graham Norton Show.

"But at the end of the day, you've got to do parts that appeal to you; not that many come along. When you've got a juicy part like that, you can’t turn it down.

"I loved playing him, he was brilliant. I saw many documentaries on him, one he did with Jonathan Dimbleby. He's on a plane, and he's talking about, 'I don't do this for my own good, you know — I do this for jolly old Britain'.

"And it was so funny, 'jolly old Britain', every time I was trying to get into him on set, I'd just go 'jolly old Britain'. And I was in."

The Crown seasons 1-6 are streaming on Netflix. Seasons 1-4 are also available on DVD and Blu-ray.
