The future is looking bright for the Nintendo Switch, with the Big N getting a lot more third party publishers and their AAA franchise on board compared to the Wii U.

But one franchise that won't be (ahem) making the switch to the console/handheld hybrid is EA and Bungie's highly anticipated Destiny 2.

Speaking to IGN, Bungie's Mark Noseworthy said the company has "no announcements to make about the Switch at this time".

When pressed on whether his "at this time" comment meant it come happen in the future, he added: "I think it's pretty unrealistic, given we're an online-only game, right?

"The Switch, because it's a portable – and I love my Switch, I've got Breath of the Wild here, I've got it with me. It's incredible, I love the console, but in terms of where it's at, I don't want leave anyone with the possibility of, like, 'It's a thing we'll consider, maybe next year.'

"There's no plans right now for Switch."

He's got a fair point, even if the Switch had a 4G option (which would be costly) you can't exactly play Destiny 2 on the tube or in the middle of the countryside.

Bungie showed off the first in-game footage this week, and it's looking like it's improved on predecessor in a number of ways and could be one of this year's must-own games.

Unless you only have a Switch, sorry.

Destiny 2 will be released on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on September 8.
