Donald Trump's top lawyer resigns as President 'won't listen to advice'
Donald Trump’s top lawyer in the investigation into Russia’s interference into the US election has resigned suddenly.
The prominent attorney, who has worked with Trump since last summer, has quit amid claims the president is reluctant to follow advice.
In a statement to The Hill, Dowd said: ‘I love the President and I wish him well.’
His resignation comes a day after Trump was slammed for failing to follow advice and congratulating Russian president Vladimir Putin for his re-election.
Trump’s aide had allegedly left him a note instructing ‘DO NOT CONGRATULATE’ in capital letters.
The President has insisted he ‘would like to’ give evidence before the special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.
‘Yes,’ said Trump when asked if he would like to give his side of the story.
‘I would like to.’

The move comes several days after Trump added a new lawyer to the team, former US attorney Joseph diGenova.
Earlier today, Trump attacked former vice president Joe Biden are in a row over which of them would prevail in an imaginary brawl.
Crazy Joe Biden is trying to act like a tough guy. Actually, he is weak, both mentally and physically, and yet he threatens me, for the second time, with physical assault. He doesn’t know me, but he would go down fast and hard, crying all the way. Don’t threaten people Joe!

Reacting to comments Biden made about him earlier in the week at an anti-sexual assault rally, Trump tweeted on Thursday: ‘Crazy Joe Biden is trying to act like a tough guy.
‘Actually, he is weak, both mentally and physically, and yet he threatens me, for the second time, with physical assault.
‘He doesn’t know me, but he would go down fast and hard, crying all the way.
‘Don’t threaten people Joe!’
At the University of Miami on Tuesday, Biden cited lewd comments the Republican president made in a 2005 Access Hollywood tape about grabbing women without their permission.
‘If we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him,” said Biden, a Democrat.
The 75-year-old also said any man who disrespected women was ‘usually the fattest, ugliest S.O.B. in the room’.
He has kept open the possibility of a 2020 bid for president and is gearing up to play a big role campaigning for Democrats running in this year’s midterm elections.
Trump, 71, dismissed the prospect of a Biden run recently at the annual Gridiron Dinner with Washington journalists, calling him ‘Sleepy Joe’ and saying he could ‘kick his ass’.
