Donatella Versace 'thrilled' by Cillian Murphy joining Versace family

Cillian Murphy has been named the new face of Versace.

The Irish star, who won the Best Actor Oscar for Oppenheimer on Sunday, has been named the face of Versace's capsule line, Versace Icons.

Cillian partnered with the iconic Italian fashion house at the 2024 Academy Awards, where he wore a bespoke Atelier Versace suit featuring a wool tweed single-breasted jacket and tailored mohair wool trousers.

"After Cillian's triumph at the Oscars, I am thrilled that he is joining our family as the star of the Versace Icons Men's campaign," Donatella Versace wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. "He is magnetic and mesmerising in front of a camera and I loved seeing him bring Versace to life."

Versace Icons is a selection of everyday essentials including knitwear, formal trousers, suits and denim staples. The line launched last spring with a campaign fronted by Cillian's The Dark Knight Rises co-star Anne Hathaway.

This is the first time the 28 Days Later star has partnered with a brand. The actor is well-known for staying out of the limelight when he is not working on a film.

The Peaky Blinders star's official campaign will launch on 3 April.
