Donkey owner is fined £5,000 after animal nibbled on carrot-coloured McLaren supercar

The owner of a donkey which nibbled on a temptingly carrot-coloured McLaren supercar has ended up paying out after the beast caused £30,000 of damage.

State court in Giessen sided with the car’s owner, Markus Zahn, after the donkey’s owner refused to pay up after the nibbling incident last year.

‘The donkey obviously thought he had stumbled upon a giant carrot,’ says car’s the owner, Markus Zahn.

The owner of the rogue ass has been ordered to pay £5,260 in damages by a German court, after the donkey nibbled on the £280,000 McLaren 650S parked next to its paddock.

Police said that Vitus the donkey may have mistaken the car for a carrot as he chewed on it, damaging the paintwork and carbon fibre.

His owner was ordered to pay for his meal.

Mr Zahn’s insurance company paid for some of the £30,000 damage, but he sued the donkey’s owner for the remainder.

Mr Zahn told German newspaper Bild, ‘I looked into the rear-view mirror and suddenly saw a pair of fluffy ears! And then I heard a strange sound.

‘The sound came from a donkey, who was gnawing at my fender.’
