Doom Patrol's final episodes have finally been given a release window.

The first part of the DC series' fourth and final season dropped in January, and we've not heard much about the second part of the season since.

That was until Entertainment Weekly revealed that the final episodes will premiere at some point in October, as part of its fall TV preview.

Season 4 part 2 will pick up where the show left off, with our characters in the pocket dimension of Orqwith, a dark and dismal place made out of bones.

Bosede Williams, who directed the midseason premiere episode, told the publication that the creative team thought long and hard about how to present Orqwith, since fans had been looking forward to it since the first season.

"We knew that it should be dark and completely disorienting, because the characters have never seen anything like it. It should be gloomy, just to really take them out of their elements," Williams said.

"We worked very closely with the production designer to put it together and figure out: What was the lighting going to be? How big were the bones? What were the flowers going to look like? There were so many details. It was really fun putting together that world."

Being in Orqwith isn't just a change of scenery for the titular team, but there's also a force that is stripping them of their longevity, and the loss of their long lives will prove hugely divisive.

"It's a real turning point for every single character," Williams added. "It's a massive thing that they're going to be struggling with, and some of them are conflicted. Some of them are okay with that and want to move on, but then others are not so sure."

Doom Patrol streams on Max in the US, and on Lionsgate+ in the UK.
