Two business partners starred in a brand new TV series on Channel 4 tonight.

Cath Doyle and Lynn Nolan, who own the Queen's Nook bar in Crosby, appeared on Double the Money this evening and held a huge celebration at their business for their friends, family and supporters.

Double the Money, which is hosted by Sue Perkins, challenges 13 pairs of contestants to Double The Money using any idea they can think of. Starting with £250 in the first episode, each pair have 36 hours to bring back £500 using their entrepreneurial abilities. Anyone who fails is out of the competition.

Contestants are also not allowed to use the same idea twice, otherwise they might also face the chop. Those who do make it through to the very end stand to win £20,000.

Cath and Lynn, who opened their bar in 2021, said that when they received a message inviting them to try out for the show, they initially thought it was a con.

Cath said: “I only met Lynn seven years ago at the kids’ football - my little boy and her little boy. She was leaving her job and I was being made redundant. After a few meetings she said: ‘Do you want to go into business?’

“Lynn found what’s now the Queen’s Nook, knew the girl who worked here and said: ‘Do you want to open a bar?’ And I just said ‘yes’."

Lynn continued: “All of a sudden, in February last year, we were in Cath’s talking business and everything, and we got a message on Instagram asking us to audition for a TV show. We didn’t apply - we thought it was a scam - as you would - but they turned round and asked if we wanted to have a conversation.

“We Googled the girl who messaged us and we found out that she worked for a TV company. She’d found us under a hashtag. So we had a call with her and she asked us to audition. Four or five auditions later and that was it."

Locals gathered in the Queen's Nook tonight to watch their favourite landladies in action. The two praised everyone who has supported them while they were filming. Lynn said: "We’re the ‘Queens of Crosby’ and we wanted to put the area on the map. We haven’t just done this for us - we’ve done this for the whole of Crosby and Waterloo.

“The community has been amazing. Every Scouser has got behind us. Local businesses and the local community have just been great.”

Cath added: “It's been up and down - one minute we were on a high and the next we were on a low. It was a rollercoaster and had a massive impact on our business, family life - we couldn’t go on holiday.

“We were constantly going between Liverpool and London with Sue Perkins but we are in it to try to win it."

Cath and Lynn came out fighting in the first episode of Double The Money tonight (May 9) by converting their £250 into a staggering £918.53 - more than quadrupling their initial funds.

The Channel 4 series continues tomorrow, Friday May 10, while the rest airs every Friday after at 8pm.
