Downton Abbey’s Mrs Patmore Lands This Morning Presenting Spot

Downton Abbey might have wrapped up on Christmas day but Lesley Nicol, who played cook Mrs. Patmore in the ITV drama, isn’t heading to the job centre just yet because she’s nabbed herself a pretty amazing role.

Yep, the 62-year-old is set to front a two-part special on the Give A Dog A Home appeal for This Morning as she ditches the kitchen to turn reporter and help relocate poor pets who have been abandoned over Christmas.

Speaking about her new role, Lesley explained: “This is such a worthy cause, and one I’m very passionate about.

“It breaks my heart to see any animal suffering and it’s fantastic that This Morning are helping to find homes for them too.”

It is thought that the show’s hosts, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, were influential when it came to hiring Lesley, and the actress added: “It’s always great seeing Phillip and Holly as I know they are big Downton fans, but this time we’ll talk about something a little different.”
