TV doctor Michael Mosley has been confirmed to have gone missing while on holiday in Greece.

Greek officials have stated they are carrying out a wide search for the TV personality on the island of Symi. Dr Mosley is well known for being a regular contributor to the ITV show as well as BBC's The One Show while also presenting Just One Thing on BBC Radio 4.

Dr Mosley made a career change into the medical field after spending two years in the banking industry. After qualifying to be a doctor, he has spent almost three decades creating documentaries and earning an award as a journalist.

After earning a name for himself for his journalistic skills and moving up the ladder at the BBC, he was named Medical Journalist of the Year by the British Medical Association for his programme examining Heliobacter pylori in 1995. In more recent years, he has become known for being an advocate for the Fast 800 diet plan.

The plan, which has become many slimmers' go-to diet, promotes quick and sustainable weight loss by eating Meditteranean meals full of protein, healthy fats, and fibre.

An appeal to find Dr Mosley was shared on Facebook following his disappearance on Symi island. It read: "A search and rescue team is coming from Athens with drones and other more sophisticated equipment to extend the search.

"They are expected to arrive by about 1 p.m."
